This Pina Colada Smoothie is one of my favorite smoothies! I call this paradise in a cup! This smoothie is especially nice to enjoy during these cold winter months. It takes my mind to a warm and tropical place while I am really bundled up in a sweater, thick coat, scarf and gloves! Regardless if it is the coldest time of the year or the hottest time of the year, this Pina Colada Smoothie is perfect anytime!
The classic flavors of pineapple and coconut are still the key players in this smoothie. A banana gives this smoothie a creamy texture. The rum is nowhere to be found since this smoothie is aimed toward the healthy side. You are more than welcome to add some rum to your smoothie. I tend to drink my smoothies on my way or at work, so alcohol does not mix well in those scenarios.
I like to use frozen fruit for my smoothies because the texture it creates is thick and creamy. Not to mention the frozen fruit is picked and frozen when it is at its peak season, so even in the winter you get the freshest fruit flavors!
