Happy Tabby Tuesday everyone!
Every once in a while, people ask me why Cooper has brown spots in the iris part of his eyes. Cooper was examined by his doctor and a veterinarian ophthalmologist. These brown spots are called iris melanosis or benign freckles and they are not consistent with melanoma formation. In Cooper’s case, these benign freckles are common with age. However, the ophthalmologist will need to periodically monitor these spots for changes.
If you ever notice spots in your cat’s eyes, please schedule your cat to see their veterinarian or veterinarian ophthalmologist immediately. These spots can also be a sign of cancer or other diseases.
That wraps up our PSA. We hope you have a great day!
