Marcella Hazan's Tomato Sauce
A simple and versatile three ingredient tomato sauce that is velvety delicious!

Servings: 4 cups
- 1 28 oz can San Marzano whole peeled tomatoes with juices
- 1 onion peeled and cut in half
- 5 T unsalted butter
- salt to taste
In a medium saucepan, add the tomatoes and their juices, onion, and butter.
Cook over medium heat and bring to a simmer. Lower heat to medium-low and continue to cook for 45 minutes.
Remove the onion. Add salt to taste. Blend with an immersion blender until smooth. Alternatively, you can blend in a food processor or blender until smooth.
Serve with your favorite pasta or dish of your choice.
