This simple and uncomplicated marinara sauce adds bright and fresh flavors!

Ingredients
1Textra-virgin olive oil
5-6garlic clovesminced
1 28-ozcan crushed tomatoes
1 1/2tdried basil
1/4tdried oregano
1dried bay leaf
1tkosher salt
1/4tblack pepper
1/4tsugar
Instructions
in a medium pot over medium-high heat, add the olive oil. Once the oil is hot, add the minced garlic and saute for 30 seconds to 1 minute, or until fragrant and golden. Do not allow the garlic to burn (it will be bitter).
Add the tomatoes, basil, oregano, bay leaf, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Stir to combine.
Once the mixture is simmering, lower the heat to medium-low. Continue to cook at a simmer, stirring occasionally, for 15 to 20 minutes.
Remove the bay leaf. Add additional salt & pepper if desired.
Remove from the heat!
Enjoy with your favorite pasta or in any dish that calls for marinara sauce.
Notes
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or the freezer for up to 3 months.
